This area was home to noble residences, and it was here that, the day before his assassination, Julius Caesar enjoyed his last dinner at a friend's house.
Your guide will take you on a journey along the path Caesar walked on the Ides of March. Beginning at his residence, the Domus Publica in the Roman Forum, you’ll follow the route to Largo Argentina, where he met his tragic end.
You will visit the Temple dedicated to Julius Caesar, which was erected in his honor after his deification following his death.
This was the Senate house, which, on the Ides of March, was undergoing restoration at Caesar's request and was temporarily replaced by a secondary Senate located near the Theatre of Pompey.
The Caesar Forum was the first of the Imperial Forums to be built, designed both to expand the area of the ancient Roman Forum and to honor the glory of Julius Caesar.
This was a sacred area that included four temples dating back to the Republican era. Behind it stood the Theatre of Pompey, which was temporarily used by the Senators for their meetings while the official Senate House (Curia Julia) was under restoration.
