Learn about Roman art antiquity by visiting Capitoline Museums. By this small group tour, lead by a local guide, you will see sculpture, historic artefacts, jewels, coins, and paintings of Tintoretto, Rubens and other masters.

Meet your guide at the entrance of the Capitoline Museums, in the square designed by Michelangelo and start an amazing journey  through some of the most beautiful works of the Roman antiquity.

Amongst the many masterpieces, you will admire the Spinario: the bronze statue of a boy removing a spine from the sole of his foot. You will also see the symbol of Rome: the bronze she-wolf nursing the twins Romulus and Remus, and you will get to know the story of the founding of Rome in full detail.

On the second floor of the Palace you can admire the Pinacoteca, the oldest public collection of paintings, with works by Caravaggio, Titian, Tintoretto, Rubens. You can also admire frescoes and statues from the Renaissance and Baroque Rome. 

Down to the ground floor you visit the room hosting the original equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius.

Crossing an underground tunnel to reach the new wing of the Museums, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Roman Forum area. The New Palace collects statues, busts, mosaics of Roman history. Here stands the statue of Marforio, one of the 5 famous “talking statues” of Rome, the bloggers of the past! This is a tour for great lovers of ancient art!

Tips & recommendations

  • In hot days of Summer wear a hat and comfortable shoes. Do not forget also to bring camera to take pictures of the great sites you will see
